Community Grants

Community Grants

A percentage of our annual giving is reserved for the communities in which we operate. These funds help provide food, shelter, safety, and services to local residents in need. The Community Grant Committee (CGC) determines which eligible groups will receive funds each year. The CGC is comprised of interdepartmental colleagues who volunteer their time to help local organizations find additional funding and share in our success. Our programs are always evolving to become more global.

CST awarded $394 K in 79 community grants from 2018 to 2021. The grants helped provide community food, shelter, and recovery programs.

Here are some of the organizations supported over the last few years:

Every spring, the CGC convenes to review grant requests and distribute funds to local schools, non-profit organizations, and charities. Our members follow up on the projects funded by the committee, and many choose to volunteer for some of these organizations at annual fundraisers or charitable events.

Grants Program

CST recognizes that inflationary pressures continue to pose serious challenges to our communities. Our CGC has committed to fund causes that support those most affected by these issues.

  • CST will give highest priority to those causes addressing food and housing insecurity, those helping under-served children or victims of domestic violence, and also to educational initiatives that improve the well-being of communities and contribute to stopping the cycle of poverty. We encourage charities local to CST headquarters to apply (Beverly, Danvers, Salem, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Rockport, Peabody, Topsfield, Wenham, Essex, Lawrence, and Lynn, Massachusetts), but will accept grant applications from non-profit organizations throughout the New England, US region.
  • Funding will be prioritized toward organizations/projects benefiting many people.
  • Applicants will be notified of decisions by the end of July of the year in which the application was submitted.

Deadline: Annually on May 1st. To apply for a grant, visit our Grants Program Application page.
